“Wedding DJ of the Year (Western Cape) from African Excellence Awards hosted by MEA Markets awarded to DJ Brent. It was a complete surprise when Brent received the notification. He says, “I DJ because I fell in love with the craft and not to win awards, which in any case is subjective. However, it is gratifying to be recognised for the effort that one puts into trying to provide the best wedding entertainment experience for a couple on their very special day.”
Brent’s DJ career began in 1979 when he was performing with a band named Ricochet. He was also working as a radio DJ and presenter while up north. Coming back to Cape Town he witnessed a DJ spinning records for a live crowd. He was instantly smitten and excited with the prospect of spinning music live. This is what he wanted to do!
He was fortunate enough to get employment and training in 1980 at one of Cape Town’s most established and best known mobile discotheques, Le Chic Discotheque. This meant he was able to pursue his dream of playing music and entertaining live crowds at parties, weddings, clubs and corporate events. It was at this time that he also performed solo at his first wedding.
About a year later when he purchased his own DJ equipment and started his mobile DJ business called Flight 206 Mobile Discotheque. The dream took a step further.
“Today I’m very fortunate that the dream continues and I get just as as excited and nervous as I did in those early years to DJ or MC your wedding, party or event. I genuinely care about the success of your event and would love the opportunity to discuss your ideas with you,” says Brent.
Brent works with you during each of the stages of planning your event so that everything goes as perfectly as possible. A wedding or party is supposed to be fun and relaxing so he will everything he can to grant you the freedom to sit back and enjoy your event.
